The purpose of the society is to promote a better understanding on the needs, and rights of animals in order to reduce the incidences of animal abuses.
To date, the main effort of SPCA KK has been on educating the public on responsible pet ownership, inspectorate, rescue and rehoming after vaccination and desexing.
Apart from our daily activities, we maintain a shelter at Kg Gana, Papar to rehabilitate and rehome the animals that we have rescued. Currently, we are responsible for over 300 dogs and cats in our shelter and around 50 animals fostered by volunteers.
The root cause of homeless animals is the uncontrolled reproduction of pets and strays. SPCA KK subscribes to the international practice of neutering pets and strays to contain the problem. Since our inception, we have sponsored the sterilization of countless numbers of cats and dogs. In 2021 alone, SPCA KK spent more than RM 300,000 on animal neutering and treatment, we have successfully neutered 1,530 animals.
